3rd July- Trip to YMCA
3rd July
Today we have learnt how to use a green screen in order to place a background behind the people in the music video. What I learnt is that you need the green screen lights positioned properly and the people who are using the green screen need to be stood properly in the centre in order to recieve the lights to be seen clearly in the video. This was useful and an easier way to get a good background as you could just edit it rather than making a background. I also went on a high digital camera and used this, I have never done this before I have only used a small camera, this has widened my experience of technology. Then I went on to learn about all the different types of editing that I can use in order to make it fit in with the video and not look odd. We also looked at how a video can be produced in a large group by dividing a song into ten sections. throughout the day we researched ideas on what would go into our music video, for example, we had to find an appropriate background to edit it in into the video. Whilst filming in the studio, we learnt different techniques on how to film with a green screen for example, playing the song in the background so the lip syncing fitted in when we would finally edit the video.
I was picked to do the first 10 seconds of the video, in order to create a successful opening to the first scene we had to plan well ahead. The group I was in decided to do the original style of the video and try to repeat it in our own way, we used props such as accessories. We researched the lyrics so when we created the camera angles that the lip syncing would fit in and not look out of sync. Then we made a story board which showed us each camera angle and edit we was going too produce. This planning was well thought out and helped us be more organised when it came to filming as we know exactly what camera angle and movement to make, we also had the person in our video memorise the lyrics so there was no confusion or dilemma.
The good thing about the trip was that when we came to record we could use a proper studio with an official green screen and high HD camera, this helped loads as we didn't have to set anything up however, got a better picture quality which made the video look professional.
We then went onto iMovie to edit our video. We started of my importing our video into the programme, once this was one we edited the video and cut out the bits we didn't need so the clip would fit in with the music.
From this trip I have learnt how to use a high technological camera. I now have the knowledge to come up with a creative idea for a music video. Today showed me how to be more creative with my editing, I now understand the purpose of editing and how to do it properly in order to gain a good music video. I also learnt how to add backgrounds into iMovie which may be considered useful for when I make my music video. All the information I have gathered from today will be useful and help me loads when I come to make my official music video.
Below is the video that I made on my school trip.
